The ol Bobber Gen 2 jacket has been awarded Motocap's highest rating of five stars for safety!
Premium Distressed Brown Leather Jacket
The favourite ol Bobber Jacket in the distressed charcoal brown leather is back and with upgrades!
After a lot of research, testing and development the new version is here! The new version features big upgrades to the ventilation (2 zipper vents to 8) and safety (more info below), as well as introducing the diamond stitching right down the arms for that classic look
More details below
ol Bobber 2 Jacket key Info:
- NEW The elbow and shoulders are the most critical areas of jackets for safety as that is the first part that will likely hit the road in the unfortunate event of a crash. Having a double layer of leather stitched together increases the slide time by around 4x of a single layer.
- NEW Classic diamond quilted look. The diamond quilting down the arms isn't just for show! This stitching actually is mainly there to bind the two layers of premium leather together. The elbow and shoulder are the critical safety points on a jacket that are most likely to hit the ground first and therefore reinforcing makes an already very safe jacket into an even safer one! The reason for having two layers of leather instead of one very thick layer is twofold; the first is that the two layers allows for more movement and flexibility over one equally thick layer, and its also safer with better abrasion times.
- UPGRADED: Better comfort in warmer weather; now with 8 zippered vents including underarms, shoulder, back of the arms and back rear vents to let the warm air out. On colder days you can easily do them up which along with the liner or another layer makes for a nice and warm jacket.
- UPGRADED: Higher rated CE2 removable Shoulder, Back and Elbow impact armour comes as standard, no extra charges here to look after yourself! If you don't like the look of armour in jackets or prefer to ride without they come out easily. The armour is soft, flexible and comfortable.
- Made from premium cowhide leather in a unique Distressed 'Charcoal Brown' finish, this jacket will look perfectly at home on any Classic, Cafe Racer or Cruiser etc.
- Full length jacket so if you're a little taller it's not cut off at your belly button, looks better when you get off the bike and you're also not flashing people behind you while riding. Win win win!
- Premium brass YKK zippers all around for longer wearing.
- Removable inner liner for more warmth
- 4 outer pockets + 1 key pocket (on sleeve for easy access) + 2 inner pockets
- Adjustable cuffs and waist for a better fit
- 1-1.2mm thick cowhide leather provides a perfect mix between style, comfort and safety. Doubled up on the critical elbow and shoulder areas.
Motorcycle Jacket Sizing Guide:
Below is the sizing guide. I've done this a little different to how most sizing guides are done. Instead of giving a sizing like 32, 34, 36, etc I have given the actual size of the jacket so you can pick the one that best suits you.
The main measurement is the chest measurement.
1) You want to take your own chest measurement (under the armpits at the widest part)
2) Then add a minimumof 14cm to that measurement then choose from the below table. If you want a more relaxed fit or you typically ride with more layers underneath add another 2-4cm then choose from the below.
The measurements on the website are the actual size of the exterior of the jacket so you need some extra room to move and breath etc and 14cm is about the sweet spot for giving enough space to move but without making it baggy.
If you would like another specific measurement just let me know (eg biceps) and I can measure it for you, no dramas! If you would like help with sizing email or message on Facebook and I can help. I can also potentially get bigger and smaller sizes in if yours isn't here.
If the way I've done this size guide is confusing as hell and I should do it like everyone let me know and I'll do that.
I totally get buying a jacket or glove online can involve a bit of risk when it comes to sizing etc so I am more than happy to do a size swap or return if you want (provided it's still in the same condition it got sent to you in).
Designed in Australia
Black Pup Moto was born because I could never find quite what I wanted. I wanted gear that matched the more classic/cafe racer style of bikes I liked.
I wanted Real high-grade leather without too much branding on the outside and without plastic-y add ons and so the 'ol Bobber' was designed and tested right here in Australia.
Created to suit classic, cafe racer, bobber or whatever you wish! Well suited to Triumph, Royal Enfield, Harley Davidson etc.
Unfortunately for the price of this jacket, I can't recommend it. At least not specifically this style. With the extra quilting down the forearm. It really makes the forearm and elbow look unusual and balloon out more than most riding jackets would. I suggest going for a design that does not have the quilting all the way down the arm. As you can see by the image I added, it doesn't look great.
Rated this 5 stars before. But have owned this jacket for 4 years now. Had my first accident (TLDR: Rear axel nut came off, causing me to lose ABS, pulled the brake and fell out from underneath me). This is the result of falling off at 90km/h, landing on my left-side (didn't feel a thing) and sliding on my front. Not a scratch on me.

I love this jacket. Sizing was spot on. I had been considering one of your jackets for some time but already have three dryrider nylon jackets, for the different seasons, so was in no hurry. I was concerned about over heating in leather. The eight air vents of the Gen 2 Old Bobber, and the comment that the production run was coming to an end forced me to commit before it was too late. I am really glad that I did. The vents work really well with great ventilation on a 30 degree day and comfy on a 17 degree day with arm vents closed. Thank you for a great product.
This jacket has exceeded my expectations. The cut and fitment is perfect for me (190cm, medium build in size Large). Quality of materials and design is top notch. I love the forarm zipper pocket to stash my garage door opening, absolute game changer!
Jacket is thick and heavy, in a good way. I feel well protected and comfortable on the bike when wearing it.
I can't imagine wanting any other leather jacket over a Black Pup Moto now.

Love the jacket! The style is cool and matches my Bonny beautifully. The service from Richard is second to none and he genuinely takes care of his customers. Great gear great company 👌
The fit is great and super comfy. Size guide on point. Love the look. The extra vents were much appreciated when it warmed up in the afternoon on my sunday ride.
I have one of Richard's excellent Summer 'Ol Bobber', which I have used on dozens of rides (and I upgraded the armour with the latest D3O protection). When I saw the Gen2 'Ol Bobber', I knew it would also be excellent, and cover a different riding spectrum. And in the past couple of weeks I have put my new jacket through its paces on three long rides, across the temperature range. My conclusion is that the Gen2, with judicious use of liner, combinations of the eight air vents plus the wrist and waist studs, offers great flexibility - copes with very cold (6 degrees) weather up to cool/warm (24 degrees). The jacket looks understated, but pretty mean and 'cool'. And as it scuffs and fades and softens, its looks will improve. The liner is effective and yet thin enough not to feel bulky - and the liner's fitment design is simple and neat. But, above all, with its upgraded armour, strong leather and quilted sleeves, the Gen2 imparts a strong feeling of safety to the rider. I never want to have a spill, but I know what I would want to be wearing if I had an accident. Well done to Black Pup Moto.
The jacket is awesome. Saw it was rated highly for safety in Motocap and figured since I didn’t have a leather jacket yet I would grab one.
The leather is thick, the lining is comfortable and the quilted layer is a good bonus but I have yet to test it. The vents are great once you get moving, but like with most jackets it does get stuffy if you’re stopped. With all the armour and leather in the jacket I feel safe if I ever do go down.
The fit itself is good. I’m a small guy and the small size fits a little loose around the arms, but I have found this to be a blessing on hot days as it lets the wind easily blow down the sleeves and cool me down. The shoulders are a little wide as well, but I find that the armour fills that space up nicely.
I've owned this jacket for over a month now and worn it just about every day. The quality is excellent, it's comfortable on or off the bike and somehow it manages to be both lighter and warmer than my other leather jackets! The key pocket on the arm is a great feature - though I'm still trying to train my muscle memory to use it more often - and with all the vents and pockets, it's definitely a versatile piece of gear!
Gen 2 Ol Bobber jacket looks great and is super comfortable. I was worried about buying online and getting the size right but the sizing guide is spot on and it’s a perfect fit. Very happy with the jacket and would highly recommend!
This jacket is amazing. Nothing in the stores compares. I was weary buying a motorcycle jacket online, but after receiving it, I'm so pleased I brought one.
A phenomenal jacket - the design is fantastic, the quality excellent and the improvements make it much better than the first gen. While a little heavier than the first gen due to the double layer leather, the venting provides much better cooling in all the right places. 10/10
If you’re looking for a jacket, you can’t go wrong with one of these.

Upgraded my gen1 ol bobber jacket after 2 years faithful service. I was considering dedicated summer jacket, but saw the Gen2 and made the move instead. The Gen2 is a great upgrade for Melbourne summer. The flow through venting zips work well whilst keeping the original functionality and great look that suits the Bonnie Speedmaster.
I’m really happy with the fit of this Jacket. I have very broad shoulders and a large upper frame. I usually fit into an XL but went with a 2XL here because of the protective gear, the leather, and overall expected fit of the jacket. I also run quite hot so the strategic vents are a must, it’s one of my favorite added features about this jacket. I’d recommend going up a size if you’re a husky/muscular guy up.

Unique style and overall a very good jacket.
I'm 190cm and bought the XL. The torso length and width are good for an average chest. If I had a skinny frame I'd try the Large size. If heavy set, then I might need an XXL. The sleeve length could do with another 1cm for my height, but certainly not too short for use on cafe racer or sports seating. Most retro jackets in the market err their sleeve length on the short side, sadly, and Black Pup Moto is no different. The neck width is wider than it needs to be. It's as if it's designed for someone with The Hulk's neck.
Leather is a nice look and feel. I've worn it twice and it's already moulding in the arms. The elbow, shoulder and back armour included is a nice touch. I've got existing SAS TEC L2 armour (Large) which I swapped into the elbows, and it fits perfectly.
Customer service with Richard was good. I bought the Large and had to exchange it for an XL to get the chest size right. If you're in Melbourne, head to their store and try one on first. I wish they had retailers in the other states so those of us around Australia could do the same. It's pricey to have to send back a jacket when the size doesn't work in your favour.
I'm glad to support an Australian design and company. I'd be willing to pay more in future if it was made in Australia as well.
jackets is comfy, I removed the liner and was riding in 34 deg C, opened all the vents, had a T shirt on under, I think it would be ok in cold with the liner in and more layers under. seems like a well made jacket.
Looks great, warm enough for the coldest winter Melbourne days and feels more armoured than most. Haven’t tested the vents yet, but everything else is awesome.
Hi BP Moto,
The bobber 2 looks great. However I have to say the original bobber jkt is just great. Good luck with it m. It will probably be many years until I get to try it as I’m so pleased with my original. Mike.
